BPS Releases Inflation Developments and Strategic Data for December 2024

On the first working day of 2025, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) released the Development of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for December 2024 and a number of other strategic data. The Head of the Riau Province BPS, Asep Riyadi, delivered this release together with the Head of the Riau Province Communication, Information, and Statistics Service, Ikhwan Ridwan, representing the Acting Governor of Riau on January 2, 2025.

During the Nataru (Christmas and New Year) moment in December 2024, Riau Province experienced m-to-m inflation of 0.62 percent and calendar year inflation (y-on-y/y-to-d) of 1.25 percent. In the last five years, high monthly inflation rates have generally occurred during periods of national religious celebrations. The commodities that contributed the most to inflation were broiler chicken, live chicken, cooking oil, red chilies, rice with side dishes, and cayenne pepper.

Other strategic data that was also released was the Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) for Riau Province in December 2024 and Riau Province Tourism in November 2024. For further information, the data can be accessed through the official BPS website.
