On October 14, 2024, the Central Statistics Agency of Riau Province's regencies/cities conducted simultaneous consultation activities at the Riau Province BPS in preparation for the release of quarterly GRDP figures at the regency/city level. This consultation was attended by the Head of Riau Province BPS, Head of Regency/City BPS, and staff involved in the regional balance and statistical analysis (nerwilis) function.
In his remarks, the Head of Riau Province BPS, Asep Riyadi, said that it was necessary to improve data quality and human resource (HR) capacity throughout BPS to ensure accurate and timely GRDP releases. This activity was also filled with discussions related to the challenges faced in compiling the Quarterly GRDP, starting from data collection, compiling worksheets, to analyzing the results.
In addition to preparing for the GRDP release, the Head of Riau Province BPS also discussed the importance of a deep understanding of economic tables such as the Input-Output (IO) Table, the Socio-Economic Balance System (SAM) Table, and the Supply and Use (SUT) Table by nerwilis staff. The Head of BPS Riau Province explained that nerwilis staff need to understand how the interrelationships between economic sectors are reflected in these tables to ensure that the resulting analysis can describe a more accurate economic reality.
It is hoped that through this activity, BPS district/city staff can be better prepared in compiling and interpreting more complex economic data, thus producing higher quality information for development planning in Riau Province.
