Preparation for the preparation of the Wholesale Price Survey (SHPB) base year 2023=100

Kuantan Singingi, November 21, 2024 – The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Indonesia is preparing to compile the Wholesale Price Survey (SHPB) using the base year 2023=100. The Head of BPS Kuantan Singingi Regency, Ir. Rozalinda M.E, together with the Person in Charge of the SHPB Survey of Riau Province and the Head of the Distribution Team of BPS Kuantan Singingi Regency, visited several additional samples that will be used for the 2025 survey. The samples include sellers of broiler chickens, broiler chickens, and cattle. This change was made considering that the SHPB Survey, which was previously only carried out monthly, will now be carried out weekly and monthly.

SHPB is an important survey to monitor the development of prices of goods and services traded in the wholesale market, as well as provide an overview of inflation and economic dynamics in the wholesale sector. This survey will collect the data needed to measure changes in the prices of goods traded in large quantities, such as foodstuffs, industrial products, and daily necessities. With the base year 2023=100, the data collected is expected to provide a more accurate and relevant picture of price trends in the period, as well as being an important reference in economic policy and inflation control.
