Harvest Area and Rice Production in Kuantan Singingi Regency 2022

The availability of timely and accurate agricultural data is the foundation for realizing agricultural policies that are right on target. Since 2018, BPS-Statistics has collaborated with the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT), supported by the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (Ministry of ATR/BPN), the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG), and the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (LAPAN), seeks to improve the methodology for calculating rice harvest area through the application of objective measurements by utilizing advances in information and communication technology and the availability of high resolution satellite imagery. This collaboration was realized in an activity entitled "Integrated Food Crop Agricultural Statistics Data Collection Using the Area Sample Frame (KSA) Method" or better known as the KSA Survey. The KSA Survey for rice commodities began to be implemented nationally in 2018. Segment observations were carried out on the last 7 (seven) days of each month. Based on the results of the KSA Survey, from 2018 to 2022, the rice harvest area in Kuantan Singingi Regency fluctuates every year. In 2018 the area was 6.8 thousand hectares and fell to 5.4 thousand hectares in 2019 and rose in 2020 to 8.09 thousand hectares and fell again in 2021 to 5.48 thousand hectares and fell again in 2022 to 4, 82 thousand hectares. In line with the harvested area, rice production (Dry Milled Grain), in 2018 was 29.52 thousand tons and fell in 2019 to 19.32 thousand tons then rose in 2020 to 27.19 thousand tons and fell again in 2021 to 20, 95 thousand tons, while in 2022 production will increase to 21.36 thousand tons. Apart from producing an estimate of the harvested area, the KSA Survey also provides an overview of other rice observation phases, such as the area of ​​the early vegetative, late vegetative, generative, puso phases, as well as the area of ​​paddy fields and fields that are not currently planted with rice.
