Kuantan Singingi Agricultural Sector Absorbs Majority of Workers

Based on the results of Sakernas (August) in 2024, the agricultural sector dominates labor absorption in Kuantan Singingi Regency. A total of 76,806 people, or 46.06 percent of the total workforce, work in the agricultural sector. This condition is in line with the portrait of the Kuansing economy which is dominated by the agricultural business sector, which contributes around 51.12 percent to the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP).

The service sector followed with a workforce contribution of 42.25 percent, while the industrial sector only absorbed 11.70 percent of the workforce. This difference shows the characteristics of the agricultural sector as a labor-intensive sector that offers wider employment opportunities than other sectors in Kuantan Singingi.

The dominance of the agricultural sector reflects the economic structure of Kuantan Singingi which is still agriculturally based. As the sector with the largest workforce, agriculture is the main pillar in supporting the lives of the majority of the population in Kuantan Singingi Regency.
